How to Draw a Chestnut
Draw a chestnut in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the nut.
Step 1: The nut
Draw a big round nut with a small soft point on top and a wide flat bottom.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the nut draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a speck.
Step 3: Big smile
A little under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye, ends turning up.
Step 4: Pale base
Start on the left edge just above the bottom. Draw a gently bowed line across to the right edge.
Step 5: Shines
On the upper left of the nut draw one short curved shine and a tiny one under it.
Step 6: Spiky burr
On the ground beside the nut, draw a round ball with lots of short spikes all round its edge.
Tip The burr is the prickly case the chestnut came out of.
Step 7: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line under the nut and burr, stopping near the right edge.
Step 8: Grass
Start on the ground and flick 2 short grass blades left of the nut and 2 right of the burr.
Step 9: Tan base, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the base band tan, add 2 rosy pink cheeks, and leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Brown nut, green burr
Colour the nut brown around the eyes, smile and cheeks, and the burr green. Your chestnut is done!

Your finished drawing
