How to Draw a Chanterelle
Draw a chanterelle in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cap.
Step 1: The cap
Near the top draw 4 waves from left to right. Join the ends with a line dipping like a bowl.
Tip The cap is a shallow dish with a frilly edge, sunk in the middle.
Step 2: The funnel
From the cap's left end sweep down into a narrow stem, round the bottom, and up to the right end.
Tip Let the stem get a little thinner near the bottom.
Step 3: Ridges
From the top of the stem draw 4 bendy ridge lines up to the dish edge, following the funnel.
Step 4: Forks
Split each ridge like a Y: draw a bendy line from the dish edge down to its middle.
Step 5: A little one
Draw a small one on the right: wavy top, funnel from the left end round to the right, 2 ridges.
Step 6: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line through the bottom of the stems, stopping near the right.
Step 7: Grass
Flick 4 grass blades from the ground: 2 left of the big stem, 1 each side of the little one.
Step 8: A fallen leaf
At the left draw a long pointy leaf resting on the ground, with a stalk and a curved vein.
Tip Let its belly touch the ground and its tip lift a little.
Step 9: Yellow funnels
Colour the funnels and stems of both chanterelles yellow.
Step 10: Orange dishes
Colour the wavy top dishes of both chanterelles orange.
Step 11: Ginger leaf
Colour the fallen leaf ginger brown. Go over your lines and your chanterelle is done!
