How to Draw a Celtic Knot Heart
Draw a Celtic knot heart in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the left loop.
Step 1: The left loop
From the middle draw a fat ribbon round the top left and under like a smile. Stop at the right.
Tip A ribbon is 2 lines side by side. Close off both ends.
Step 2: The right loop
Start above that end. Draw a ribbon round the top right, down across the middle. Stop at the left loop.
Tip Leave a gap one ribbon wide at the start. The last ribbon goes over it.
Step 3: The bottom point
Start under the left loop. Draw a ribbon down to a point, back up over the gap, to the middle.
Tip Now every ribbon goes over one ribbon and under the next.
Step 4: Sparkles on the left
On the left of the heart draw 2 sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.
Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.
Step 5: Sparkles on the right
Draw 2 more sparkle stars on the right to match.
Step 6: The floor
Touching the bottom point of the heart, draw a straight floor line, stopping a thumb from each edge.
Step 7: A shadow
On the floor line draw a thin flat oval for the shadow, with the point in its middle.
Tip Keep the oval thin, like a pancake seen from the side.
Step 8: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the 4 sparkle stars yellow.
Step 9: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow under the heart grey.
Step 10: Green knot
Colour all 3 ribbons green, leaving the holes white. Your celtic knot heart is done!
