How to Draw a Ceiling Light
Draw a ceiling light in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big shade.
Step 1: The big shade
Draw a short flat top. Curve out and down on both sides like a bell. Join the ends.
Tip Make both sides match, like a wide bell.
Step 2: Rim band
Start on the left side, just above the bottom. Draw a line straight across and stop on the right side.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the shade draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving white shines.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, eye to eye, and a little oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The holder
On the flat top of the shade, draw a small box that gets a little narrower going up.
Step 6: Cord and base
From the box draw a thin cord straight up. On top, draw a small bowl with a flat top.
Tip The bowl is the base that holds the light up.
Step 7: The ceiling
Draw a long ceiling line across the top, running along the flat top of the bowl.
Tip Everything hangs DOWN from the ceiling line.
Step 8: Light bulb
Under the middle of the shade, draw a big U for the bulb. Start and stop on the shade.
Step 9: Rays of light
Under the bulb, draw 5 short lines fanning out. Leave a gap so they do not touch the bulb.
Step 10: Yellow bulb, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the bulb yellow and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 11: Grey metal
Colour the bowl on the ceiling, the cord, the little box and the rim band grey.
Step 12: Blue shade
Colour the shade blue, going around the cheeks and leaving the eyes white. Now switch on your ceiling light!
