How to Draw a Fig Tree

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a fig tree in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: stout trunk.

Print

  1. Step 1: Stout trunk

Start near the bottom. Draw 2 trunk lines a finger apart, flaring out at the bottom, stopping below the middle.

  2. Step 2: Left branch

From the left trunk line draw a branch up-left to a rounded tip, then back down to a V.

  3. Step 3: Middle and right branches

From the V draw a middle branch up to a tip, down to a second V, then a right branch.

  4. Step 4: Left leaf

On the left branch tip draw a big 3-lobed leaf, then a vein from the branch into each lobe.

Tip Make the middle lobe the biggest, like a mitten with a thumb on each side.

  5. Step 5: Middle leaf

Draw another 3-lobed leaf with 3 veins on the middle branch tip, pointing straight up.

  6. Step 6: Right leaf

Draw one more leaf with its veins on the right branch tip, pointing up and out.

  7. Step 7: Fat figs

Draw 4 figs, 2 under each side branch: a short stem from the branch down to a fat pear.

  8. Step 8: Ground and grass

Draw a long ground line under the trunk, far left to far right, and a small grass tuft each side.

  9. Step 9: Green leaves

Colour every big leaf green, right out to the lobes.

  10. Step 10: Brown trunk

Colour the trunk and branches brown.

  11. Step 11: Purple figs

Colour the figs a deep purple. Go over your lines and your fig tree is done!
