How to Draw a Carpenter

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a carpenter in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and ears

Near the top draw an egg for the head. Add C ears on both sides, starting and ending on it.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

On the middle of the head draw 2 big eyes with black dots, a small U nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Baseball cap

Draw the cap hugging the top of the head, with a curve across the forehead. Add a visor under it.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a shirt round to the right one, with short sleeves.

  5. Step 5: Overalls

From the shirt's bottom corners draw overalls: a bib on the chest and 2 wide legs, leaving room for boots.

  6. Step 6: Straps and buttons

From each bib corner draw a strap up to the shoulder. Add a button on each and a bib pocket.

  7. Step 7: Arms

Draw an arm from each sleeve: the right hangs down to the hip, the left bends in to the belly.

  8. Step 8: Mitten hands

Draw a mitten hanging from the right wrist. Draw a mitten pointing in from the left wrist.

  9. Step 9: Hand saw

In the left hand draw a handle with a hole. Add a blade on top, with teeth down one side.

  10. Step 10: Boots and ground

Under each leg draw a tall boot with the toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under the boots.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, ears, neck, arms and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Go over your lines.

    Tip Keep the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Green shirt, grey blade

Colour the shirt green around the arms, and the saw blade grey.

  13. Step 13: Blue overalls, brown boots

Colour the cap, overalls and straps blue around the hand and saw. Colour the boots and saw handle brown.

Tip Leave the hole in the handle white.
