How to Draw a Catamaran
Draw a catamaran in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two hulls.
Step 1: Two hulls
Below the middle draw 2 tall cups side by side, flat on top, round at the bottom, far apart.
Tip A catamaran has 2 hulls, so leave a big gap between them.
Step 2: The deck beam
Join the hulls with a long thin rectangle lying across their tops, sticking out a little past each side.
Step 3: The mast
From the beam's middle draw a tall mast almost to the top, 2 lines close together. Ball on top.
Step 4: The big sail
From the mast curve a big belly down to a point over the right hull, then straight back to it.
Step 5: The front sail
From the mast, lower down, curve a belly to a point over the left hull, then straight back to it.
Step 6: Flag and bands
Under the ball draw a short flag streaming left from the mast. Draw 2 lines across the big sail.
Step 7: Portholes
In the middle of each hull draw 1 round window.
Step 8: Waves
From the left edge, above the hull bottoms, draw wave bumps across to the right edge. Add a lower row.
Tip Rub out the bottoms of the hulls under the waves, so the boat sits in the water.
Step 9: The sun
In the top left corner draw a small round sun with 8 short rays.
Step 10: Yellow hulls and sun
Colour the sun and both hulls yellow, down to the waves. Leave the portholes white.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue, from the top wave down to the bottom of your paper.
Step 12: Red flag, brown beam
Colour the flag and sail band red, and the beam, mast and ball brown. Your catamaran is ready!
