How to Draw a Cat in a Tree
Draw a cat in a tree in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide cat head.
Step 1: Wide cat head
In the middle, a little to the right, draw a wide head with a small fur point on each cheek.
Tip Leave room all around it for the tree.
Step 2: Pointy ears
On each top corner of the head draw a tall pointy ear. Add a small triangle inside each one.
Tip The ears lean out a little.
Step 3: Eyes looking down
In the middle of the head draw 2 big oval eyes. Put the black dots low, so it looks down.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.
Step 4: Nose and whiskers
Under the eyes draw a small triangle nose and a w smile. Add 2 whiskers on each cheek.
Tip Each whisker starts on the cheek and stops out in the air.
Step 5: Plump body
Start under each cheek. Draw a side curving out and down. Stop both at the same height.
Tip The body is never wider than the head.
Step 6: Front legs
From under the chin draw 2 legs down to mitten paws. Add a line across each paw and 2 toes.
Tip Each paw is a little wider than its leg.
Step 7: Back paws
Beside each front paw draw a back paw peeking out from the body. Add 2 toes on each.
Step 8: Strong branch
Start left of the paws. Draw a long thick branch under the cat and stop back at the left.
Tip The paws hang over the front of the branch. Leave the left end open.
Step 9: Tail and stripes
From the cat's side draw a thick tail hanging over the branch. Add a tip line and 3 forehead stripes.
Step 10: Leafy crown
Behind the cat's head draw a big cloud of bumps for the leaves.
Tip The cloud is much wider than the cat.
Step 11: Tree trunk
Rule the ground. From the leaves draw a thick trunk down to it, joining the open branch end.
Tip The trunk gets wider at the bottom. Add 2 short bark lines.
Step 12: Cream and pink
Colour the 4 paws and the tail tip cream. Colour the nose and the inside of the ears pink.
Step 13: Ginger fur
Colour the rest of the cat ginger, around the cream and pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Green and brown
Colour the leaves green. Colour the trunk and the branch brown. Your cat in a tree is done!
