How to Draw a Viaduct Train
Draw a viaduct train in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the deck.
Step 1: The deck
A little below the middle of your paper draw a long thin box nearly across the page.
Step 2: Three arches
Start at the left end of the deck. Draw 3 tall arches in a row, ending at the right end.
Tip A viaduct is a very tall bridge on a row of arches.
Step 3: The engine
On the left of the deck draw a long engine box with a taller cab behind. Add a funnel.
Step 4: A carriage
Behind the engine draw one long carriage box on the deck with 3 square windows.
Step 5: The wheels
Draw 3 round wheels under the engine and 2 under the carriage, resting on the deck.
Step 6: Smoke puffs
Draw 3 puffs of smoke floating up from the funnel, each one bigger than the last.
Step 7: The railing
Draw a thin rail along the deck behind the train, with 3 short posts at each end.
Step 8: Rolling hills
Inside the arches draw a wavy line of rolling hills, with the flat valley floor under them.
Step 9: Two trees
Under the left and right arches draw a tree: a trunk on the valley floor with a round bumpy top.
Step 10: The sun
Near the top right draw a small sun with 8 short rays.
Step 11: Yellow sun, green hills
Colour the sun yellow and the hills light green.
Step 12: Green trees, brown trunks
Colour the tree tops dark green and the trunks brown.
Step 13: Red engine, navy carriage
Colour the engine red and the carriage navy, leaving all the windows white.
Step 14: Grey viaduct and wheels
Colour the viaduct and deck stone grey around the hills, and the wheels dark grey. Your viaduct is done!
