How to Draw a Space Center

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a space center in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rocket body.

Print

  1. Step 1: The rocket body

On the right half of your paper, draw a tall standing box for the rocket body.

Tip The rocket is the hero here: make it big and tall.

  2. Step 2: The nose cone

Start at the top left corner. Curve up to a rounded point and back down to the top right corner.

  3. Step 3: Two fins

On each side of the body, draw a fin slanting down and out to a point below the bottom.

  4. Step 4: Window and stripe

Draw a big round window high up. Lower down, rule 2 stripe lines from one side across to the other.

  5. Step 5: A friendly face

Between the window and the stripe, draw 2 big round black eyes with white shines, and a wide smile under.

  6. Step 6: Nozzle and flames

Draw a flaring nozzle from the bottom line back to it. Add a pointed flame with a smaller flame inside.

  7. Step 7: Pad, legs and tower

Draw a pad, a leg from each fin, and a tower on the left with an arm to the rocket.

  8. Step 8: The big building

On the left, draw a big box building, shorter than the rocket. Add a tall arched door at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: Flag, star and badge

On the building, draw a box flag, a star and a round badge. Rule a ground line under everything.

  10. Step 10: Yellow flame, sky body

Colour the little flame yellow. Colour the rocket body sky blue, around the face and window.

  11. Step 11: Orange fire, grey metal

Colour the big flame orange around the yellow. Colour the nozzle, pad, legs, tower and arm grey.

  12. Step 12: Red cone, fins, star

Colour the nose cone, fins, stripe band, flag stripe and star red.

  13. Step 13: Navy door and window

Colour the arched door, the window and the badge navy. Leave the building white. Go over your lines!
