How to Draw a Cargo Bike
Draw a cargo bike in 19 steps, about 14 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wheels and road.
Step 1: Wheels and road
Draw a big wheel low right and a much smaller wheel low left. Rule the road under both.
Tip The small front wheel lets the box sit low.
Step 2: Cargo box
Between the wheels, draw a big box. Start high on its front. Rule a rim line over to the back.
Tip The box is the whole point: make it big and boxy.
Step 3: Front fork
From the small hub, draw a fat fork up beside the box, joined to it by a short bar.
Step 4: Chain wheel
Right of the box, low down, draw a small chain wheel with a short crank and a pedal.
Step 5: Long beam
Rule a fat beam under the box, from behind the small wheel to the chain wheel.
Tip The box sits right on top of the beam.
Step 6: Frame sticks
Rule a fat front post, then fat frame sticks from the chain wheel up and back to the big hub.
Step 7: Saddle
On top of the back frame post, draw a small flat saddle.
Step 8: Handlebar
From the front post, draw a short stem up and a handlebar pointing forward.
Step 9: Rider's head
Above the saddle, draw a round head with short hair, 2 big eyes with dots and shines, and a smile.
Step 10: Rider's body
Under the head, draw a bean body that sits on the saddle.
Step 11: Arm and fist
From the shoulder, draw a bent arm that gets thinner, to a fist round the handlebar end.
Step 12: Leg and shoe
From the hips, draw a thigh to a round knee, then a shin down to a shoe on the pedal.
Tip Make the thigh fatter than the shin.
Step 13: Two kids' heads
Draw 2 heads with caps over the rim. From the rim, draw a shirt under each, back to the rim.
Tip Keep the heads well above the rim.
Step 14: Kids' faces
In each head, draw 2 big round eyes with a dot and a shine, and a small smile below.
Step 15: Peach faces
Colour the 3 faces and the fist peach, leaving the eyes white. Give everyone 2 pink cheeks.
Step 16: Yellow and tan
Colour the first kid's shirt and the second kid's cap yellow. Colour the rider's trousers tan.
Step 17: Green and red
Colour the rider's shirt and sleeve green. Colour the first kid's cap and the second kid's shirt red.
Step 18: Wood box, blue frame
Colour the box wood brown. Colour every frame stick, the fork, its short bar and the long beam blue.
Step 19: Grey hubs, dark tyres
Colour the hubs, chain wheel and pedal grey, the tyres dark grey, and the saddle, bar, shoe and hair black.
