How to Draw a Cardboard Robot

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a cardboard robot in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head box.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head box

Near the top of your paper draw a big square box for the head.

Tip Use straight lines. Leave a little room above for the antennas.

  2. Step 2: Face hole

Draw a round hole in the box. For the hair, start on its left, wave across, stop on its right.

Tip The wavy hair line sits near the top of the hole.

  3. Step 3: Smiling face

Inside the hole draw 2 oval eyes with black dots and a wide smile under them.

  4. Step 4: Antennas

On top of the box draw 2 short sticks leaning out. Put a little ball on each.

  5. Step 5: Neck and body box

Under the head draw a short neck. Under it draw a wide box for the body.

Tip The body box is a little wider than the head box.

  6. Step 6: Dial and buttons

On the body box draw a big round dial with a pointer. Under it draw 3 round buttons.

  7. Step 7: Tube arms

From each side of the box draw a bendy tube arm, out and then down. Add 2 lines across each.

Tip The tube bends at the elbow.

  8. Step 8: Hands

At the end of each tube draw a hand pointing down, with a thumb on the inside.

  9. Step 9: Legs

Under the box draw 2 legs, a little wider at the top. Leave a gap between them.

  10. Step 10: Shoes and ground

At the bottom of each leg draw a round shoe with a flat bottom. Rule a ground line under them.

  11. Step 11: Peach and yellow

Colour the face, neck and both hands peach. Colour the hair yellow. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Cardboard boxes

Colour both boxes light brown, around the face hole, the dial and the buttons.

  13. Step 13: Grey and red

Colour the tube arms and the dial grey. Colour the buttons, antenna balls and shoes red.

  14. Step 14: Blue trousers

Go over your lines. Colour both legs blue.
