How to Draw a Canopy Bed

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a canopy bed in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the headboard.

Print

  1. Step 1: The headboard

Start on the left below the middle. Draw up, across in a low arch, then down to the start's height.

  2. Step 2: The pillow

On the left, inside the headboard, draw a puffy pillow: a soft box sitting on the headboard's bottom line.

  3. Step 3: A happy face

In the middle of the headboard draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and white shines, and a smile.

  4. Step 4: The mattress

Across the bottom of the headboard draw a long flat soft box, wider than the headboard on both sides.

  5. Step 5: The blanket

Start on the middle of the mattress. Draw a wavy line right, down, and back to the start.

  6. Step 6: Blanket folds

Draw 2 soft curved lines down the blanket from its top to its bottom, for the folds.

  7. Step 7: Two tall posts

From each end of the mattress draw a tall thin post straight up, nearly to the top of your paper.

  8. Step 8: The canopy roof

Across the tops of the posts draw a long flat box, a little wider than the posts.

  9. Step 9: Frilly curtain

Under the roof draw a row of little hanging bumps from one end to the other.

  10. Step 10: Legs and floor

Carry each post down past the mattress for a leg. Draw the floor line under both legs, edge to edge.

  11. Step 11: Cream mattress, pink roof

Go over your lines, then colour the mattress cream and the roof and curtain pink. Leave the pillow white.

  12. Step 12: Wood bed, blue blanket

Colour the headboard, posts and legs wood brown, leaving the eyes white. Colour the blanket blue, and you're done!
