How to Draw a Can Opener

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a can opener in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the can top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The can top

On the left, a little above the middle, draw a wide flat oval for the top of the can.

  2. Step 2: The can

From the oval's left end draw straight down, round the bottom and straight up to its right end.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle of the can draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: Label bands

Across the can draw a curved line above the eyes, and another under the smile, from side to side.

  6. Step 6: The head

Over the right end of the can top draw a soft box, the opener's head. Rub out lines inside it.

  7. Step 7: The cutting wheel

At the head's left side draw a small wheel with a little circle in it. Rub out lines inside it.

  8. Step 8: The butterfly key

On top of the head draw a short stem with a round knob and 2 round wings.

  9. Step 9: Two handles

From the head's right side draw 2 long bars side by side, slanting gently down to the right.

  10. Step 10: The grips

Over the end of each handle draw a slightly fatter rounded grip.

  11. Step 11: The table

Start near the left edge and draw a long table line under the can, stopping near the right edge.

  12. Step 12: Grey can, pink cheeks

Go over your lines. Colour the can light grey and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Dark grey head

Colour the head, the key and the wheel dark grey.

  14. Step 14: Red handles, black grips

Colour the handles red and the grips black. Your can opener is ready to open the can!
