How to Draw a Cactus
Draw a cactus in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall body.
Step 1: Tall body
Start low on the left. Draw up, over like an upside-down U, and down to stop on the right.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the body, draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 3: A big smile
Under the eyes, draw a U smile from under the left eye to under the right eye.
Step 4: Pot rim
Under the body, draw a wide flat box for the pot rim. Make it wider than the body.
Tip The body's open ends sit on top of the rim.
Step 5: The pot
Start under the rim, near the left. Draw down, across, and back up to the rim on the right.
Tip The pot is narrower at the bottom.
Step 6: Two arms
Start on the left side, draw an arm curling up, and stop on the body. Same on the right, lower.
Tip Rub out the body line inside each arm, so arm and body are one shape.
Step 7: A flower on top
Start on top of the body. Draw a ring of 5 bumps, stopping where you started. Add a middle dot.
Step 8: Spines on the body
Draw little V ticks for spines: 2 on the top, not level, and 2 under the smile.
Step 9: Spines on the arms
Draw a V tick on each arm, and one more low on the body.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a long straight line under the pot, going out past it on both sides.
Step 11: Ginger pot, pink flower
Colour the pot ginger brown and the flower pink. Add 2 rosy pink cheeks.
Step 12: Green cactus
Colour the body and arms leaf green, around the cheeks and smile. Leave the eyes white. Your cactus is done!
