How to Draw a Caboose
Draw a caboose in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the box car.
Step 1: The box car
In the middle, draw one chunky box, twice as wide as tall, with soft top corners.
Tip Leave room on both sides for little porches.
Step 2: Brim roof
From the top-right corner, draw a shallow rainbow roof over the box, back to the top-left corner.
Step 3: The round face
Near the right end of the box, draw a big circle, more than half as tall as the box.
Step 4: Big eyes and smile
In the circle, draw 2 big round eyes with a dot and shine. Add a smile from eye to eye.
Step 5: Two windows
On the left part of the box, draw 2 tall windows with round corners, the same size, a finger apart.
Step 6: Lookout box
Draw a small box from the roof up, across, and back down to the roof. Add a window.
Step 7: The chimney
Near the left end, draw a chimney from the roof up, across and back down to the roof.
Step 8: Porches and railings
Draw a plank under the box, poking past both ends. Draw a railing from each end up to the box.
Step 9: Wheels and rail
Under the plank, draw 4 wheels peeping out, 2 near each end. Draw one long rail under the wheels.
Step 10: Sky windows, pink cheeks
Colour the windows sky blue and add 2 pink cheeks. Leave the face and eyes white.
Step 11: Red car
Go over your lines. Colour the box and lookout red, going around the windows and face.
Step 12: Grey roofs and wheels
Colour the roofs, chimney, plank and wheels grey. Leave the hubs white.
