How to Draw a Boom Lift
Draw a boom lift in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the base.
Step 1: The base
Below the middle, right of centre, draw a wide box with soft corners, about 3 times as wide as tall.
Tip A boom lift is a base on wheels with one long bending arm.
Step 2: The round face
On the right half of the base draw a BIG circle nearly as tall as the base.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 black dot eyes, each with a white shine. Add a smile below.
Step 4: Chassis and wheels
Start at the base's bottom left, draw a thin strip ending bottom right. Add 2 wheels and a ground line.
Step 5: The turret
On top of the base, left of the face, draw a low rounded block for the turret.
Step 6: The lower arm
From the turret draw one long fat arm slanting up to the right, ending in a round knuckle joint.
Tip The arm is one long tube, like a crane's boom, never 2 thin sticks.
Step 7: The upper arm
From the knuckle draw a second long arm slanting up to the LEFT, right across the page.
Step 8: The bucket
Draw a box bucket on the arm's end. Draw 3 posts up from its top, joined by a rail.
Tip The railing is posts and one rail, with air between them.
Step 9: Yellow base and arms
Colour the base, the turret and both arms yellow, going around the face. Add 2 pink cheeks.
Step 10: Grey wheels and bucket
Colour the chassis, wheels, knuckle and bucket dark grey. Leave the face white.
