How to Draw a Car Back
Draw a car back in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Below the middle, draw a wide box as wide as your hand and a thumb tall, with soft corners.
Tip We look at the car from behind, wide and low.
Step 2: The roof dome
Start on top of the box near the left corner. Draw a big dome over, stopping near the right corner.
Tip Make both sides of the dome lean in the same amount.
Step 3: The back window
Inside the dome, draw a big window a finger in from its curve, stopping just above the body.
Step 4: Two tail lights
On the body, near each end, draw a small sideways box with soft corners for a tail light.
Tip Tail lights are red, so drivers behind can see the car.
Step 5: The number plate
In the middle of the body, level with the lights, draw a flat box for the number plate.
Step 6: The bumper
Under the body, draw a long flat bumper with soft ends, a little wider than the body.
Tip The bumper sticks out past the body on both sides by the same amount.
Step 7: Two tyres
Under the bumper, near each corner, draw a big round tyre peeking out, so only its bottom half shows.
Step 8: The exhaust pipe
Under the bumper, just inside the right tyre, draw a small round pipe end with a dark hole.
Tip Only the back of a car has an exhaust pipe.
Step 9: Wing mirrors
On each side of the dome, draw a little sideways egg mirror, joined to the dome by a short line.
Step 10: The road
Under both tyres, draw one long straight road line, a little wider than the car.
Step 11: Yellow plate, red lights
Go over your lines. Colour the number plate yellow and the 2 tail lights red.
Step 12: Sky window, green car
Colour the back window sky blue. Colour the body, dome and mirrors green, around the lights and plate.
Tip Colour around the red and yellow, not over them.
Step 13: Black tyres, grey bits
Colour the bumper and the exhaust pipe grey, then the tyres black. Your car is done!
