How to Draw a Cabbage

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a cabbage in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

In the middle of your paper draw a big round head as big as your fist.

  2. Step 2: Left leaf

Start on the head near its top left. Swing out wide and down round the bottom, stop on the head.

Tip The leaf hugs the head like a cupped hand.

  3. Step 3: Right leaf

Same on the right: start on the head near its top right, swing out and down, stop on the head.

  4. Step 4: A leaf in front

Start low on the left leaf. Dip under the head in a shallow U and stop on the right leaf.

  5. Step 5: Veins on the leaves

On each side leaf draw one long bowed vein down its middle, from near the top to near the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Little side veins

From each long vein draw 2 short lines out towards the leaf's edge, like branches, stopping short.

  7. Step 7: Veins on the head

Down the head draw one bowed vein from the top nearly to the bottom, with 3 short branches.

  8. Step 8: The ground

Draw a ground line under the cabbage, just touching the leaves, from far left to far right.

  9. Step 9: Pale head

Go over your lines, then colour the head light green.

  10. Step 10: Green leaves

Colour the 3 outer leaves dark green.
