How to Draw Buried Treasure
Draw buried treasure in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: sand mound.
Step 1: Sand mound
Start low, near the left side. Draw a long low hill to near the right side, then rule back.
Tip Keep the hill wide: the chest sits half sunk in it.
Step 2: Round lid
Above the middle of the sand, draw a rounded lid like a loaf of bread, just above the sand.
Step 3: Box sinking in
Start at each bottom corner of the lid and draw a side straight down. Stop at the sand.
Tip The rest of the box is hidden under the sand.
Step 4: The lock
In the middle over the bottom of the lid, draw a lock plate with a rounded top. Add a keyhole.
Step 5: Lid line
Under the lid, rule a line from the left side of the box over to the right. Skip the lock.
Step 6: Metal bands
Near each side, draw a band of 2 lines from the top of the lid down to the sand.
Tip Keep each band the same width all the way down.
Step 7: Shovel handle
On the left, draw 2 long lines close together from high up down to the sand. Add a top bar.
Tip The handle leans a little to the right. The bar is the grip.
Step 8: Shovel blade
From the bottom of the handle, draw the top of the blade: out each side, then down to the sand.
Tip The rest of the blade is hidden under the sand.
Step 9: X marks the spot
On the sand, draw a big X: 2 thick lines, each from high one side, stopping low on the other.
Tip In front of the chest on the right. X marks the spot!
Step 10: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars: 1 above the right corner of the chest and 2 up in the sky.
Tip Each one is a plus sign with curvy sides.
Step 11: Sandy mound
Colour the whole mound sand.
Step 12: Yellow lock and sparkles
Colour the lock and the sparkles yellow.
Step 13: Grey metal
Colour the bands and the shovel blade grey.
Step 14: Wooden chest
Colour the lid, box and shovel handle brown, around the lock and bands. Go over your lines. Ready to dig!
