How to Draw a Buoy
Draw a buoy in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the float.
Step 1: The float
Across the middle of your paper draw a big fat float with a flat top, like a round pumpkin.
Step 2: A happy face
On the float draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a little smile and a cheek each side.
Step 3: The cage
Start on the flat top and draw 3 thin legs leaning in, stopping close together.
Tip Keep the cage shorter than the float.
Step 4: A cross bar
Draw a bar across the legs halfway up. Start at the left leg and stop at the right leg.
Step 5: The light
On top of the legs draw a small box with a round bulb in the middle.
Step 6: The cap
Draw a little dome on top of the box, a bit wider than the box.
Step 7: Waves
Start at the left edge below the face. Draw wave bumps across to the right edge. Add a lower row.
Step 8: Sun and seagull
In the top right draw a small sun with 8 short rays. Add a seagull on the left.
Step 9: Red float
Colour the float red down to the water, going round the face. Colour the cheeks pink.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
Step 10: Yellow light and sun
Colour the bulb and the sun yellow.
Step 11: Grey metal
Colour the cap and the box around the bulb grey.
Step 12: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue from the top wave down to the bottom of the paper. Your buoy is bobbing happily!
