How to Draw a Big Wheel Trike

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a big wheel trike in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: one huge front wheel.

Print

  1. Step 1: One HUGE front wheel

Low on the left draw one HUGE wheel with a rim and hub. Add 3 spokes and a road line.

Tip The big wheel is the whole idea: make it nearly half the paper tall.

  2. Step 2: Fork and handlebar

From the hub draw 2 fork lines up past the wheel. Add a flat handlebar with fat grips on top.

  3. Step 3: Low seat frame

Behind the wheel draw a low frame like a slide. Add a tiny wheel with a hub at its end.

Tip The frame sits almost on the ground; its front hides behind the wheel.

  4. Step 4: Seat and pedal

On the frame draw a seat with a low round back. From the hub draw a crank to a pedal.

Tip The seat back leans back; the crank points forward and a little up.

  5. Step 5: Rider's head and helmet

Above the seat draw a round head with a dome helmet over the top, its rim across the brow.

  6. Step 6: The face

Under the helmet rim draw 2 round eyes with dots and shines, and a small smile below.

  7. Step 7: Body and arm

Draw a bean body under the head. Add a bent arm from its shoulder to a fist on the bar.

Tip Bend the arm softly at the elbow; the bar passes behind the fist.

  8. Step 8: Leg and streamers

Draw a bent leg from the hips to a shoe on the pedal. Hang 2 streamers off the grip.

Tip Bend the leg at the knee, and rest the shoe on top of the pedal.

  9. Step 9: Peach and pink

Go over your lines. Colour the face and fist peach, and add pink cheeks.

  10. Step 10: Yellow and red

Colour the big tyre yellow, and the fork, handlebar, frame, shirt and sleeve red.

  11. Step 11: Blue and green

Colour the helmet, grips, pedal and streamers blue, and the trousers green.

  12. Step 12: Grey and black

Colour the hubs and crank grey, then the tiny tyre around its hub, seat and shoe black. Ready to race!
