How to Draw Bunting

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw bunting in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long string.

Print

  1. Step 1: The long string

Start at the left. Draw a long sagging string and stop at the right. Add a peg at each end.

Tip The string hangs loosely, so it dips lowest in the middle.

  2. Step 2: The middle flag

At the lowest part of the string, draw a triangle flag pointing down, its flat top on the string.

Tip Make it a little taller than it is wide.

  3. Step 3: Flags beside it

Draw the same triangle on each side of the middle flag, leaving a small gap, tops on the string.

  4. Step 4: Two more flags

Draw another flag on each side, the same size, so 5 flags hang in a row.

  5. Step 5: The end flags

Draw one last flag near each end of the string. Now there are 7 flags.

Tip Every flag is the same size and shape.

  6. Step 6: Dotty flags

Count to the second flag from each end. Draw 2 small circles on each, one below the other.

  7. Step 7: Stripy flags

On the third flag from each end, start on one edge. Draw 2 lines across, stop at the other.

  8. Step 8: The short string

Start above the second flag. Draw a shorter sagging string across. Stop above the sixth flag. Add 2 pegs.

  9. Step 9: Five small flags

Along the short string, draw 5 smaller triangle flags hanging down, with small gaps between them.

Tip Start with the middle one, then add 2 on each side.

  10. Step 10: Yellow flags

Go over your lines. Colour the 2 dotty flags and the middle small flag yellow. Leave the dots white.

  11. Step 11: Red flags

Colour the 2 big end flags red. Colour the small flags on each side of the yellow one red.

  12. Step 12: Green flags

Colour the big middle flag and the 2 small end flags green. Colour the 4 pegs grey.

  13. Step 13: Blue stripes

On the 2 stripy flags, colour the top band and the tip blue. Leave the middle band white.
