How to Draw a Bullet Train

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a bullet train in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long car.

Print

  1. Step 1: The long car

Start low on the left. Draw up and across a long flat top, then stop. Draw the bottom line too.

Tip Top and bottom are the same length. Leave the front open for the nose.

  2. Step 2: The long nose

From the top line, swoop down a long slope to a low round point. Curl back to the bottom.

Tip Make it long and low, like a duck's bill, with no kinks.

  3. Step 3: Round face

Where the nose starts, draw a big circle about half as tall as the car. This is the face.

  4. Step 4: Eyes and smile

In the circle, draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Smile: start under one eye, stop under the other.

Tip Leave a white shine in each eye. Big eyes make it friendly.

  5. Step 5: Four windows

Behind the face, draw 4 tall windows in a row, all the same size, a finger apart.

Tip Round the corners. Line up the tops and bottoms.

  6. Step 6: Stripe and speed lines

Start at the back, under the windows. Rule a stripe forward, stopping before the face. Add 3 speed lines behind.

Tip The stripe is 2 lines close together. Speed lines float in the air behind.

  7. Step 7: Headlamp

Draw a small round headlamp near the tip of the nose.

  8. Step 8: Skirt and wheels

Start at the back corner. Draw a skirt under the train, ending under the nose. Add 4 wheels peeping out.

Tip 2 wheels each end, only the bottom halves show. Dot a hub in each.

  9. Step 9: The rail

Rule 1 long rail under the train, just touching the bottom of every wheel.

  10. Step 10: White train, yellow lamp

Colour the train and face white, going round the windows. Colour the lamp yellow, and 2 cheeks pink.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Blue windows and stripe

Colour the windows sky blue and the stripe dark blue.

  12. Step 12: Grey skirt and wheels

Go over your lines. Colour the skirt and wheels dark grey, leaving the hubs white.
