How to Draw Building a Snowman

Draw building a snowman in 14 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the kid's head.

Step 1: The kid's head
On the left, above the middle, draw an egg for the kid's head, a little taller than wide.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 round eyes with dots, a tiny U nose and a smile. Add a C ear on each side.
Step 3: Woolly hat
On the head, draw a round hat dome with a band across the bottom.
Step 4: Neck and coat
Start under the chin. Draw 2 short neck lines down to the coat. Add a boxy coat with wide shoulders.
Step 5: Arms lifting up
Start on each shoulder, draw a thick arm out to a soft elbow, then thinner up to a round mitten.
Tip Each arm bends like a V pointing outward, slimmer at the wrist.
Step 6: Snowball head
Just above the hat, between the mittens, draw a round snowball covering the inside edge of each mitten.
Step 7: Trousers and boots
Under the coat, draw 2 trouser legs with boots. Draw the ground from the left edge, ending at the right.
Step 8: Snowman's body
On the right, draw the snowman: a big snowball on the ground and a smaller one sitting on top.
Step 9: Buttons and stick arms
Draw 2 coal buttons on the top ball. Add a stick arm poking out of each side, with a twig.
Step 10: Carrot on the snow
On the snow between the kid and the snowman, draw a carrot lying down, with 2 little leaves.
Step 11: Snowflakes
In the sky, draw 4 little snowflakes, each a star of 3 short crossing lines.
Step 12: Peach and orange
Colour the face, ears and neck peach, and the carrot orange.
Tip Leave the eyes and the snowballs white.
Step 13: Red and green
Colour the trousers, mittens and boots red, and the woolly hat and the carrot leaves green.
Step 14: Blue and brown
Colour the coat and arms blue, and the snowman's stick arms brown.
