How to Draw a Bugle
Draw a bugle in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the loop.
Step 1: The loop
Low on your paper, left of the middle, draw a plum-sized circle with a slightly smaller circle inside.
Tip A bugle is one long tube curled into a loop.
Step 2: The bell
Start at the top of the ring. Draw a tube flaring out into a big bell, back to the ring.
Tip The tube stays thin, then opens wide at the end.
Step 3: The mouthpiece
From the left of the ring draw a thin tube going up and to the left, with a flat end.
Step 4: The cup
Start at one side of the flat end, draw a little cup that gets wider, stop at the other side.
Tip Rub out the flat end inside the cup.
Step 5: A metal band
Draw 2 short lines across the tube near the bell for the metal band.
Step 6: Music notes
Draw 2 music notes in the air: one high on the left, one high on the right.
Step 7: Floor and shadow
Draw a floor line under the loop, then a thin flat oval shadow right where the loop sits.
Step 8: Gold bugle
Go over your lines, then colour the loop, tube, bell and mouthpiece yellow like gold, leaving the hole white.
Step 9: Orange bell, black notes
Colour the inside of the bell opening orange, and the note heads black.
Step 10: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey around the loop. Your bugle is ready to sound!
