How to Draw a Banjo
Draw a banjo in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round body.
Step 1: The round body
Below the middle, draw 1 big round circle for the banjo's body, about as wide as your hand.
Tip A banjo body is round like a drum.
Step 2: Skin and brackets
Draw a second circle a finger inside the first, making a hoop. Add 6 tiny dots round the hoop.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the skin, a little above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes with a black dot and white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Draw a wide U smile under the eyes. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The neck
Start on top of the hoop. Draw 2 lines close together straight up, stopping near the top of your paper.
Step 6: The head
Start on the left neck line near the top. Draw the head out, up, round, down to the right line.
Step 7: Tuning pegs
On each side of the head, draw 2 little round pegs sticking out, each joined by a short line.
Step 8: Three frets
Start on the left neck line and draw 3 short lines across to the right line, spaced out.
Step 9: Four strings
Start at the top of the neck. Draw 4 long lines straight down, close together, stopping at the hoop.
Step 10: Note and ground
Draw a music note floating on the right. Draw a long ground line under the body.
Step 11: Grey pegs
Colour the 4 pegs grey.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, blue note
Colour the cheeks pink and the music note blue.
Step 13: Wood banjo
Colour the hoop light brown, the neck and head dark brown. Leave the skin and eyes white. Ready to pick!
