How to Draw a Bolt
Draw a bolt in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bolt head.
Step 1: The bolt head
Near the top draw the bolt head: a wide 6-sided shape, flat top and bottom, a point each side.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the head, a little above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The collar
From the bottom of the head, in the middle, draw a short wide box hanging down, for the collar.
Step 5: The shank
From the collar draw 2 long lines straight down, a finger apart, stopping a little above the bottom.
Step 6: The end
From the left line's bottom go down and in a little, across, and up to the right line's bottom.
Step 7: Threads
Across the shank draw 4 slanted dashes near the top and 2 near the bottom, with a gap between.
Step 8: A nut
In the gap, draw a flat 6-sided nut across the shank, and rub out the lines inside.
Step 9: Ground and sparkles
Draw a ground line along the bottom, and a sparkle star up on each side of the head.
Step 10: Peach cheeks, yellow sparkles
Colour the cheeks peach and the sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Grey bolt and nut
Go over your lines, then colour the head, shank and nut grey around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Slate collar
Colour the collar slate grey, and your bolt is ready to be tightened!
