How to Draw a Bread Basket
Draw a bread basket in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the basket.
Step 1: The basket
In the middle draw a wide shallow smile for the rim. From each end draw a side down, joined underneath.
Step 2: Back rim and handle
From the rim's left end draw a shallow rainbow over to its right end. Add a tall thick handle above.
Tip The handle is 2 rainbows, one inside the other. Let its ends dip down inside the rim.
Step 3: A round roll
In the basket, left of the middle, draw a big round bread roll, tucked behind the front rim.
Step 4: Its slash
On top of the roll draw 1 curved slash leaning up to the right.
Step 5: A long roll
Behind the round roll, draw a long fat roll with round ends, leaning up to the right.
Tip Keep its round end inside the handle and the rim.
Step 6: Three slashes
On the long roll draw 3 short slanted slashes in a row.
Step 7: A small bun
At the front right, in front of the long roll, draw a small round bun with a curved slash on top.
Step 8: Braid and weave
Under the rim draw a shallow smile for the braid. Near the bottom draw a row of soft bumps across.
Tip Soft bumps like a row of little hills, not a zigzag.
Step 9: Ground and shadow
Draw a thin flat shadow oval round the bottom of the basket. Add a long ground line behind it.
Step 10: Tan basket
Go over your lines. Colour the basket and handle tan, the band and the inside wood brown, round the rolls.
Step 11: Ginger rolls
Colour all 3 rolls ginger brown.
Step 12: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey, and your bread basket is full!
