How to Draw a Wobbegong
Draw a wobbegong in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide flat head.
Step 1: Wide flat head
On the left, start with a flat top. Round a wide soft front and stop at the chin.
Tip A wobbegong is flat as a rug. Keep the head low and wide.
Step 2: One big eye
On top of the head draw one big round eye. Fill it with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 3: Low back, 2 fins
From the top of the head, draw a long low back with 2 round fins. Stop past the second fin.
Tip Both back fins sit far back near the tail.
Step 4: Long low tail
From the end of the back, draw a long low tail with an upturned tip. Stop below the second fin.
Step 5: Tummy and side fin
Start at the chin. Draw the tummy and a side fin sweeping down and back. Stop at the tail.
Step 6: Smile and tassels
Start near the front and draw a wide smile, stopping under the eye. Add 5 soft tassels round the front.
Tip The tassels are a soft beard of skin flaps, like little leaves.
Step 7: Gill curves
Just behind the eye, draw 3 short curves like ) ) ). Make the middle one tallest.
Step 8: Wobbly patches
Along the back draw 3 wobbly saddle patches under the fins. Add 3 small patches low on the side.
Tip Wobbegong patches are wobbly, never neat.
Step 9: Sand and bubbles
Draw one long wavy sand line right across the paper under the fish. Above the nose add 3 bubbles.
Step 10: Tan wobbegong
Colour the head, body, fins, tail and tassels tan, around the patches. Leave the eye white.
Step 11: Sandy floor
Colour the floor under the sand line sandy yellow.
Step 12: Blue bubbles
Colour the bubbles light blue.
Step 13: Brown patches
Colour every patch brown, big and small. Your wobbegong is done!
