How to Draw a Basketball
Draw a basketball in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ball.
Step 1: The ball
In the middle, draw one big round ball filling most of the page. Leave a finger of space under it.
Step 2: Basketball seams
Start on the left edge, above the middle. Draw a line across to the right. Add a curve each side.
Tip The side curves bend in towards the middle, like ) and (.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Below the seam, draw 2 BIG egg eyes with a small gap between. Add black dots and white shines.
Step 4: Big open smile
Under the eyes, draw a flat line from eye to eye. From its ends, draw a big U down.
Step 5: Up-and-down seam
Start at the top of the ball. Draw straight down, stopping on the seam. Do the same under the mouth.
Step 6: Cheeks and tongue
Draw a cheek beside each mouth corner. In the mouth, start left and draw a tongue across to the right.
Step 7: Bounce shadow
Just under the ball, draw a small flat oval shadow, less than half as wide as the ball.
Step 8: Bounce lines
Low on each side, a finger out from the ball, draw one short tick pointing down and away.
Step 9: Colour the ball orange
Colour the whole ball orange, around the cheeks and the mouth. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Pink tongue, grey shadow
Colour the tongue and the 2 cheeks pink, and the shadow grey.
