How to Draw a Bottle Cap
Draw a bottle cap in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flat top.
Step 1: The flat top
In the middle of your paper draw 1 wide flat oval for the top of the cap.
Tip Wide and flat, like a coin lying on a table.
Step 2: The sides
From each end of the oval draw a short line down, leaning out a little.
Tip Keep them short: a cap is much wider than it is tall.
Step 3: The bumpy edge
Start at the bottom of the left line. Draw 9 small bumps in a smile, stopping at the right line.
Tip Each bump is a little U. The middle one hangs lowest.
Step 4: The shoulder
Start on the left side, just under the oval. Draw a smile across to the right side.
Step 5: The folds
Start at each dip between the bumps. Draw a short straight line up, stopping at the smile line.
Tip These 8 folds are the crimps that grip the bottle.
Step 6: The ring
Inside the top oval draw a smaller oval, a finger in all round.
Tip Leave the same gap all the way round.
Step 7: A shine
Inside the ring at the top left, draw 1 short curve that follows the ring.
Step 8: Shadow and ground
Under the cap draw a flat oval shadow peeking out each side, then a ground line out from it.
Step 9: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow peeking out under the cap grey.
Step 10: Red top
Colour the top of the cap red, down to the smile line.
Step 11: Dark red folds
Colour the bumpy folded side dark red. Go over your lines.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a bottle cap, drawn by you.
