How to Draw a Bookmobile

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a bookmobile in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: hood and headlight.

Print

  1. Step 1: Hood and headlight

On the left draw a big backwards C hood with a flat back. Draw a round headlight on its front.

  2. Step 2: Cab, roof and floor

From the hood draw the cab up, a long roof, down the back, and a 2-bump floor back to it.

Tip The 2 bumps are wheel arches: one behind the hood, one near the back.

  3. Step 3: Big wheels and road

Under each bump draw a big tyre with a rim and hub inside. Draw a road line touching both tyres.

Tip The tyres hang inside the arches and sit on the road.

  4. Step 4: Bumper and mirror

Under the headlight draw a rounded bumper. From the cab front draw a short arm out to an oval mirror.

  5. Step 5: Windscreen and door

Inside the cab front draw a tall leaning window. After a finger gap draw a tall rounded door box.

  6. Step 6: Big bookshelf

Behind the door draw a big rounded box. Add a shelf line from one side across to the other.

Tip A bookmobile's side opens up so you can see all the books.

  7. Step 7: Door lines

Draw a line from the door's top down to its bottom. Add a bar across from front to back edge.

  8. Step 8: Top shelf of books

On the top shelf draw 5 books standing in a row, different heights, one leaning on its neighbour.

  9. Step 9: Bottom shelf and sign

Draw 5 more books along the bottom shelf. On the roof draw a sign box with a little open book.

  10. Step 10: Sky windows, yellow headlight

Colour the windscreen and door window sky blue and the headlight yellow.

  11. Step 11: Tan shelves

Colour inside the bookshelf tan around the books. Colour the roof sign tan around its little book.

  12. Step 12: Red and blue books

Colour the tallest book on each shelf and the leaning books red, and the rest blue.

  13. Step 13: Green bus

Colour the whole bus green around the windows, headlight, bookshelf and bumper.

  14. Step 14: Black tyres, grey metal

Colour the tyres black around the rims. Colour the rims, bumper and mirror grey. Your bookmobile is ready!
