How to Draw an Airboat
Draw an airboat in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flat hull.
Step 1: The flat hull
Below the middle draw a long flat boat with a square back. Add a second line under the top.
Tip An airboat is flat like a tray, so it can skim over shallow water.
Step 2: The fan cage
On the back of the boat draw a big circle standing up, with a smaller circle inside and a hub.
Step 3: Fan blades
Inside the cage draw 3 fat leaf blades spreading out from the hub like a pinwheel.
Step 4: The struts
Under the cage draw 2 struts from the boat up to it, like an A, with a bar across them.
Step 5: The high seat
In front of the cage draw a short block on the boat, with a tall-backed chair on top.
Step 6: The steering stick
Beside the chair, on the right, draw a thin stick standing up from the boat with a knob on top.
Step 7: Rudder plates
Behind the fan cage draw 2 flat rudder plates standing on the boat, one peeking out behind the other.
Step 8: Reeds and waves
From the left edge draw wave bumps across to the right edge, and a row below. Add 2 reeds.
Step 9: The sun
In the top left corner draw a small circle for the sun with 8 short rays all around.
Step 10: Yellow sun, tan boat
Colour the sun yellow, then the boat tan from the top down to the water.
Step 11: Grey cage, blue water
Colour the fan cage, blades, struts, rudders and stick grey. Colour the water blue down to the bottom.
Step 12: Brown seat and reeds
Colour the chair, block and reed tops brown. Your airboat is ready to zoom through the swamp!
