How to Draw a Blue Tit
Draw a blue tit in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top left of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room on the right and below for the body and branch.
Step 2: Tiny beak
Start on the front of the head. Draw a tiny stubby triangle out to a point, back to the head.
Tip A blue tit's beak is very small, shorter than the eye is wide.
Step 3: Big eye
Behind the beak, draw a big round eye. Add a big black dot with a white shine.
Step 4: Cap and bib
Draw a cap line over the head, from front to back. Add a small bib curve under the beak.
Tip Leave a wide gap between the cap line and the eye.
Step 5: Eye stripe
Draw 2 close lines from the beak to the eye. Draw 2 more from the eye to the back edge.
Tip The stripe runs through the middle of the eye.
Step 6: Plump body
Start on the back of the head. Curve down the back, round a fat belly, and stop under the beak.
Tip A plump egg hanging under the head, narrower than the head.
Step 7: Short tail
From the back end of the body, draw a short tail down and back. Add one feather line along it.
Tip Keep it short: about as long as the head is tall.
Step 8: Folded wing
Start under the back of the head. Draw a shoulder forward, then sweep back to a point by the tail.
Step 9: Front leg and toes
Start under the front of the tummy. Draw a short thin leg with 3 toes, back to the tummy.
Step 10: Back leg and toes
A thumb behind the first leg draw a second leg the same way, starting and stopping on the tummy.
Step 11: The branch
From the left edge, draw a branch top hopping over the toes, round the end, and back along the bottom.
Step 12: Yellow tummy
Colour the chest and tummy yellow, around the wing. Colour the beak, legs and toes dark grey.
Tip Keep the eye and the cheeks white.
Step 13: Blue cap and wing
Colour the cap, the wing, the thin strip of back and the tail blue.
Step 14: Dark stripe, brown branch
Colour the eye stripe and the bib dark blue. Colour the branch brown, around the toes.
