How to Draw a Bleeding Heart

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a bleeding heart in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arching stem.

Print

  1. Step 1: The arching stem

Start near the bottom left. Draw a tall stem curving up and over like a hook, stopping near the right.

  2. Step 2: The first heart

From the tip of the stem hang a tiny stalk with a small plump heart on it, point down.

Tip Each flower is a heart with a little drop hanging under it.

  3. Step 3: Its drop

Under the point of the heart draw a small drop, like a teardrop hanging from the point.

  4. Step 4: Two more hearts

Further back along the stem hang another stalk, heart and drop, a bit bigger. Add one more, bigger again.

  5. Step 5: The last hearts

Hang 2 more stalks, hearts and drops further back, the last one biggest, so 5 hang in a row.

  6. Step 6: Two leaves

Beside the stem draw a wavy pointed leaf leaning up left and one leaning right, each with a middle line.

  7. Step 7: Soil and ground

Draw a soil hill over the stem's foot, and a ground line from the far left out to the right.

  8. Step 8: Pink hearts

Go over your lines, then colour all 5 hearts pink. Leave the drops white.

  9. Step 9: Green leaves

Colour both leaves green, right down to the soil hill.

  10. Step 10: Brown soil

Colour the soil hill brown, and your bleeding heart is done!
