How to Draw a Black Widow

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a black widow in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big bun head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big bun head

Below the middle of your paper, draw a big round head, wider than tall, like a bun. Make it big!

  2. Step 2: Round tummy

Start on the left of the head's top. Draw a big round tummy up and over, back to the head.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

In the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes with a gap between. Add dots and shines.

  4. Step 4: Smile and fangs

Under the eyes, draw an open smile: a gentle curve on top, a deep U under it. Add 2 small fangs.

Tip The fangs hang from the top of the smile and stop before the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Top legs

Start high on the left of the head. Draw a stubby bent leg, back to the head. Same right.

Tip Each leg is one shape: fat at the head, thin at the tip.

  6. Step 6: Second legs

Start a finger lower on the left. Draw a bent leg out and back to the head. Same right.

  7. Step 7: Third legs

Start on the left, level with the eyes. Draw a bent leg out and back to the head. Same right.

  8. Step 8: Bottom legs

Start on the left cheek by the smile. Draw a bent leg down and back to the head. Same right.

  9. Step 9: Red hourglass

On the middle of the tummy, draw an hourglass: 2 triangles touching at their points, flat top and bottom.

Tip The red hourglass is the black widow's famous mark.

  10. Step 10: Red hourglass and mouth

Colour the hourglass and the open mouth bright red. Leave the 2 fangs white.

  11. Step 11: Dark head and tummy

Colour the head and tummy very dark grey around the hourglass, mouth and fangs. Leave the eyes white.

Tip Use dark grey, not black, so your lines still show.

  12. Step 12: Dark legs

Colour all 8 legs the same dark grey, right down to the pointy tips. Your black widow is done!
