How to Draw a Bumblebee
Draw a bumblebee in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.
Step 1: Big head
Near the top, draw a big wide sideways egg for the head, flat on top, with full cheeks.
Tip Leave room above for the feelers and lots of room below for the body.
Step 2: Two feelers
Start on the head, left of the top. Draw a curve up and out, ending in a round ball.
Tip Same on the right. The 2 feelers make a V.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes, 1 eye apart, with black dots and a shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye. Rule flat across to the right eye, then a wide U back to the start.
Tip Add a round cheek beside each corner. Smile as wide as both eyes.
Step 5: Round fluffy body
Start on the chin at the left cheek. Draw a big round ball hanging down, stopping at the right cheek.
Tip A bumblebee is almost a ball, fatter than a honeybee.
Step 6: Two fat stripes
Start on the body's left. Draw 2 smile lines a thumb apart across to the right. Repeat lower down.
Tip Fat stripes, with yellow between them and under the bottom one.
Step 7: Fuzzy collar
Start on the body's left under the chin. Draw 7 hill bumps across the chest, stopping on the right.
Tip Little bumps make the bee look fuzzy.
Step 8: Two wings
Start on the body under the chin. Draw a fat teardrop wing up and out, then back to the body.
Tip Same on the right. The wing lands a thumb lower than it started.
Step 9: Front legs
Start on the body between the stripes. Draw a short leg out, bend it down to a foot, and back.
Tip Same on the right. Fat at the body, thin at the ankle, with a round foot.
Step 10: Back legs
Start on the body under the bottom stripe. Draw a short leg down and out to a foot, and back.
Tip Same on the right. Keep the legs close to the body.
Step 11: Stinger
Start on the bottom of the body. Draw a small triangle pointing down, and stop back on the body.
Step 12: Yellow bee, blue wings
Colour the head and body yellow, around the mouth, cheeks and stripes. Colour the 2 wings sky blue.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Pink cheeks, red mouth
Colour the round cheeks pink and the mouth red.
Step 14: Black stripes, grey legs
Colour the 2 fat stripes, the stinger and the feeler balls black. Colour all the legs dark grey.
