How to Draw a Birthday Cupcake
Draw a birthday cupcake in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: paper cup.
Step 1: Paper cup
Start on the left, below the middle. Draw a wide U cup and stop level with the start.
Tip The cup narrows toward the bottom like a flower pot.
Step 2: Big frosting
From the cup's top left, draw 6 wavy drips across to the right. Draw a fat C up each end.
Step 3: Middle swirl
On the first tier, draw a smaller swirl: from each side, a fat C up, stopping a thumb higher.
Step 4: Round top
From the left end of the top tier, draw a plump hill up and over, down to the right end.
Step 5: The candle
On the very top, draw a tall thin candle: 2 lines straight up, joined across. Add 4 slanted stripes.
Step 6: The flame
From the top of the candle, draw a short wick up, with a fat teardrop flame on it, point up.
Step 7: Paper pleats
Under each of the 4 middle drips, draw a gentle line down the cup to the bottom, leaning in.
Step 8: Sprinkles
Draw 9 little tilted ovals on the frosting for sprinkles: 2 on top, 3 in the middle, 4 below.
Step 9: A plate
Around the bottom of the cup draw a big flat oval plate behind it. Add a smaller oval inside.
Step 10: Yellow sprinkles and flame
Go over your lines. Colour the sprinkles and the flame yellow.
Step 11: Pink frosting
Colour all the frosting pink, around the sprinkles.
Step 12: Red stripes, sky cup
Colour 3 candle stripes red: top, middle and bottom. Colour the paper cup sky blue. Leave the plate white.
