How to Draw a Beet

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a beet in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bulb.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bulb

In the middle draw a big round bulb with a thin root tail curling from its bottom.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

In the middle of the bulb draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye, with a small oval cheek beside each end.

  4. Step 4: Three stems

From the top of the bulb draw 3 thin stems: one straight up and one leaning out each side.

Tip Each stem starts on the bulb's top line and gets thinner as it goes up.

  5. Step 5: Three leaves

On the end of each stem draw a big pointed leaf, like an almond.

  6. Step 6: Leaf veins

Draw one line up the middle of each leaf, from near the stem to near the tip.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Draw the ground line from edge to edge, just touching the bottom of the bulb and the root.

  8. Step 8: Green leaves

Go over your lines, then colour the leaves green.

  9. Step 9: Red stems, pink cheeks

Colour the stems red and the cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Purple bulb

Colour the bulb and root purple, going around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Your beet is done!
