How to Draw a Bird Feeding Chicks
Draw a bird feeding chicks in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top middle draw a big round head with 3 soft low puffs on top at the back.
Step 2: Beak with a worm
Start on the front of the head. Draw a short fat beak. Hang a wiggly worm, back to the beak.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Plump body
From the back of the head draw a curve down to the tail, round a belly, up to the chin.
Step 5: Fan tail
From the bottom of the back draw a fan tail pointing down and back, with 3 round feather tips.
Step 6: Folded wing
Under the head draw a big teardrop lying along the side, pointy at the tail. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Two legs and toes
Under the tummy draw 2 short legs, each with chubby toes curling down.
Step 8: Nest and branch
Draw a long branch. From it draw a big U nest up to the wing tip, with an oval rim.
Tip Draw the nest first, then the chicks sit inside it.
Step 9: Hungry chick
In the left of the nest draw a round chick, 2 eyes high up, and a wide-open beak, black inside.
Tip Keep the chick's eyes clear of its open beak.
Step 10: Second chick
In the right of the nest draw a second chick the same way.
Step 11: Cream chest, yellow chicks
Colour the chest and tummy cream. Colour both chicks yellow, leaving their eyes white.
Step 12: Orange beaks, blue head
Colour the beaks, legs and worm orange. Colour the head and back blue around the beak, leaving the eye white.
Step 13: Brown nest, navy wing
Colour the nest and branch brown, around the chicks. Colour the wing and fan tail navy.
