How to Draw a Bird Cage
Draw a bird cage in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the dome.
Step 1: The dome
Start low on the left. Draw up, over in a big round dome, and down the right, ending level.
Tip A big half circle on 2 straight sides, like a bell.
Step 2: The base
Under the open bottom draw a flat base: a long thin rounded box a little wider than the cage.
Step 3: Ring on top
On the very top of the dome draw a small circle for the ring, touching the dome.
Step 4: The perch
Below the middle of the cage draw a thin stick straight across from one side to the other.
Step 5: Plump bird
On the perch draw a plump round bird facing left, filling most of the cage, with a short notched tail.
Tip The head and body are one big round shape.
Step 6: Eye, beak and wing
Give the bird 1 big round eye with a black dot, a small beak pointing left, and a teardrop wing.
Step 7: Little feet
Draw 2 little feet: each a short leg from the tummy, with 3 round toes hanging over the perch.
Step 8: Five bars
Draw 5 straight bars from the dome down to the base, evenly spaced. Lift your pencil where the bird is.
Tip The bars go behind the bird so his face stays clean.
Step 9: The ground
Draw one long ground line across under the base, out to both sides.
Step 10: Yellow ring, sky wing
Colour the ring yellow and the wing sky blue.
Step 11: Orange feet, wood base
Colour the beak and feet orange. Colour the base and perch wood brown, around the feet.
Step 12: Blue bird
Colour the bird blue around the wing. Leave the eye white. Your bird cage is done!
