How to Draw a Tombstone
Draw a tombstone in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stone.
Step 1: The stone
In the middle draw a tall slab: straight sides and a rainbow curve over the top.
Tip Like a tall door with a rounded top.
Step 2: The base
Under the slab draw a wide flat box for the base, poking out past the slab on both sides.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Above the middle of the stone draw 2 big egg eyes, one eye apart. Black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile, eye to eye. Add a small flat oval cheek at each end.
Step 5: Inner arch
Inside the round top draw a second rainbow, a finger in from the edge, well above the eyes.
Step 6: A little crack
Draw a crack low on the left: start on the edge, zigzag in and down, and stop above the base.
Step 7: A flower
Right of the stone draw a little flower: a stem with a leaf, a round middle and 5 round petals.
Step 8: Grass and ground
Draw a ground line under the base, from well left to well right. Add a few blades of grass.
Step 9: Moon and stars
Draw a crescent moon up in the top-right corner and 3 stars in the sky.
Step 10: Yellow moon and stars
Go over your lines, then colour the moon, the stars and the flower's middle yellow.
Step 11: Pink and green
Colour the cheeks and the petals pink, and the leaf green.
Step 12: Grey stone
Colour the slab and the base grey, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
