How to Draw a Biplane
Draw a biplane in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: banana body.
Step 1: Banana body
Across the middle of your paper draw a chubby banana body flying right: a big round nose, a small tail.
Step 2: Eyes and smile
In the fat front draw 2 big eyes. Start under the back eye, draw a smile, stop under the front.
Step 3: Bottom wing
Start on the tummy under the back eye. Draw a long flat plank with round ends, stop by the nose.
Step 4: Nose cone
On the nose tip draw a half-dome from the top of the nose to the bottom. Add a little hub.
Step 5: Propeller blades
From the hub draw 2 paddle blades, one up and one down, each swelling to a round end.
Step 6: Cockpit window
Behind the back eye draw a half-dome window sitting on the top line like a hat. Add a shine.
Step 7: Tail fin
Start on the top line near the tail. Sweep up to a tall top, then straight down to the tail.
Step 8: Tail wing
Start on the tail under the fin. Draw a small wing poking back, back to the tail.
Step 9: Top wing and struts
Above the body draw a plank wing like the bottom one. Add 2 struts from it down to the body.
Tip A biplane has 2 wings, one above and one below.
Step 10: Stripe and windows
Start on the tail, draw a stripe under the smile and stop at the nose. Add 3 windows above it.
Step 11: Wheels
Under the bottom wing draw 2 short legs far apart, with a round wheel on the end of each.
Step 12: Yellow and blue
Colour the body above the stripe yellow and the windows sky blue. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Grey and red
Colour the nose cone, propeller, legs and wheels grey. Colour the wings, tail and tummy under the stripe red.
