How to Draw a Jerboa

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a jerboa in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, draw a big egg lying on its side. Make the left end pointy for the nose.

Tip Leave room above for tall ears and below for the body.

  2. Step 2: Two tall ears

Draw a tall oval ear leaning back on the head, with a thin oval inside. Add a second ear behind.

Tip Each ear is nearly as tall as the head.

  3. Step 3: Big shiny eye

Just above the middle of the head, draw a big oval eye with a black dot and a shine.

  4. Step 4: Nose, smile, whiskers

Draw a round nose on the snout tip. Add a small smile under it and 2 short whiskers.

  5. Step 5: Long flat foot

Leave a gap under the head. Draw a long flat foot with a round heel and 2 toe lines.

Tip A jerboa's foot is longer than its head.

  6. Step 6: Back and tummy

From behind the head, draw a big C back down to the heel. Draw the tummy from chin to foot.

  7. Step 7: Big back leg

Draw a big C from halfway down the back to the foot. Curve from under the eye to the leg.

  8. Step 8: Tiny arm

Under the chin, draw a tiny bean arm with a round paw. Start and end on the chest.

  9. Step 9: Tail and tuft

From the rump, draw a long thin tail curving up. Add a tuft at the end with a line across.

Tip Keep the tail thin all the way. Leave a little space under it for the ground.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Draw a flat ground line from left of the toes to right of the tuft, under the foot and tail.

  11. Step 11: Cream and pink

Colour the tummy patch and the arm cream. Colour the inside of the ear and the nose pink.

  12. Step 12: Sand fur

Colour the jerboa sand, around the cream and pink, but not the tuft. Leave the eye white.

  13. Step 13: Black tuft

Colour the tuft black, leaving its tip white. Go over your lines and your jerboa is done.
