How to Draw a Bear Claw Pastry

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a bear claw pastry in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A plate

In the middle of the page draw a big oval plate, almost as wide as the paper.

  2. Step 2: The rim

Draw a second oval a finger inside the plate, for the rim.

  3. Step 3: Five toes

On the plate draw 5 fat round bumps in a rainbow arch. Start on the left, stop on the right.

Tip The bumps are the toes of the paw.

  4. Step 4: The bottom

From the last bump curve down, across the bottom and up to the first bump.

  5. Step 5: Four cuts

From each dip between the toes draw a straight cut towards the middle of the bottom. Stop halfway.

Tip A bear claw has cuts along one edge so it opens like a paw.

  6. Step 6: Almonds

Draw a small pointed almond sliver on each of the 5 toes, like claws.

  7. Step 7: Icing drizzle

Under the cuts draw 3 thin wavy stripes of icing, slanting up to the right. Make the middle one longest.

  8. Step 8: Cream almonds

Go over your lines. Colour the 5 almond slivers cream.

  9. Step 9: Tan pastry

Colour the pastry tan, around the almonds and the icing stripes. Leave the icing white.

  10. Step 10: Sky plate

Colour the plate sky blue, all around the pastry.
