How to Draw a Beanstalk
Draw a beanstalk in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the twisting stalk.
Step 1: The twisting stalk
Draw a ground line across the bottom. From its middle, draw a thick wiggly stalk up, thinner near the top.
Step 2: Cloud on top
At the very top, draw a puffy cloud sitting on the stalk: round bumps on top, a bumpy line underneath.
Step 3: Leaves on the left
On the left of the stalk, draw 3 short stems out. Put a big pointed leaf on each.
Step 4: Leaves on the right
Do the same on the right: 3 short stems with a pointed leaf on each, between the left leaves.
Step 5: Leaf veins
Start at the stem end of each leaf. Draw 1 vein out to the tip, stopping short of the edge.
Step 6: Two bean pods
In 2 gaps between leaves, draw a short stem from the stalk with a long bumpy pod hanging off it.
Tip Give each pod 3 soft bumps along its bottom edge, one for each bean.
Step 7: Curly tendrils
From the stalk, draw 2 thin tendrils curling round into a spiral like a pig's tail. One each side.
Step 8: Grass
From the ground line, a little way out from each side of the stalk, flick 2 little grass blades.
Step 9: Pods and leaves
Go over your lines, then colour the 2 pods yellow and all 6 leaves leaf green.
Step 10: Green stalk
Colour the stalk a darker green. Leave the cloud white, and your beanstalk is done.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a beanstalk, drawn by you.
