How to Draw a Bastet

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a bastet in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big smooth head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big smooth head

Near the top, leaving room for tall ears, draw a big egg on its side.

Tip Make the head big: more than half of your drawing.

  2. Step 2: Tall pointy ears

Draw 2 very tall pointy ears, each starting and stopping on the head. Add a thin triangle inside each ear.

Tip Statue cats have tall, straight ears.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Below the middle, draw 2 big oval eyes, one eye apart. Add black dots and white shines.

  4. Step 4: Nose and W smile

Under the eyes, draw a small upside-down triangle nose. From its point, draw a W smile under each eye.

  5. Step 5: Round body

Start under each cheek. Draw a big C down and round to meet in the middle at the bottom.

Tip The body is a fat pear, never wider than the head.

  6. Step 6: Wide collar

Under the chin draw 2 sagging curves, one below the other. Start on the left side, stop on the right.

Tip This makes 2 bands, like a necklace.

  7. Step 7: Collar blocks

Draw 4 short lines across the bottom band, from curve to curve, to make 5 blocks.

Tip Make the blocks about the same size.

  8. Step 8: Front legs

Start on the collar. Draw a U leg with a fat mitten paw, back to the collar. Do 2.

  9. Step 9: Long curly tail

Start on the right of the body. Draw a thick tail down to the ground and curl it up.

  10. Step 10: Back paws and ground

Under each side of the body draw a bun paw with 2 toe lines. Draw a ground line underneath.

  11. Step 11: Gold earrings

High on the outside edge of each ear draw a small round earring. Start and stop on the ear.

Tip Part of each earring hides behind the ear.

  12. Step 12: Yellow gold, pink nose

Colour the top band, the second and fourth blocks and the earrings yellow. Colour the nose and ear insides pink.

  13. Step 13: Blue blocks

Colour the other 3 blocks of the collar blue.

  14. Step 14: Black fur

Colour all the fur black, around the collar and the gold. Press softly. Leave the eyes white.
