How to Draw a Ball
Draw a ball in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ball.
Step 1: The ball
In the middle of your paper draw one big round circle. It fills most of the page.
Tip Go round slowly in one smooth sweep. Leave a finger of room below.
Step 2: Cap on top
At the top of the ball draw a flat little oval cap, about a quarter as wide as the ball.
Step 3: Eyes and cheeks
Above the middle draw 2 big egg eyes, a finger apart, with a dot and shine. Add 2 cheeks below.
Step 4: Big smile
Between the cheeks draw a wide smile like a D on its back, with a little tongue inside.
Step 5: Front seams
Start on the cap. Draw a long curve down the ball, bowing out, and stop on the bottom. Do both.
Tip Like ( ) brackets round the face. Leave a gap by the eyes.
Step 6: Side seams
Start at each end of the cap. Draw a curve near the ball's edge and stop low on it.
Step 7: Sand line
Start on each side of the ball, a little above its bottom. Draw a sand line out to the edge.
Step 8: Shadow
Start on the sand left of the ball. Dip a flat shadow under the ball, back up to the sand.
Step 9: Yellow sides, pink cheeks
Colour the 2 outside stripes yellow and the cheeks and tongue pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Grey shadow, red stripe
Colour the shadow grey and the left middle stripe red. Leave the front panel and cap white.
Step 11: Blue stripe, black mouth
Colour the right middle stripe blue and the inside of the mouth black, around the pink tongue.
