How to Draw a Baby Swan
Draw a baby swan in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small egg head.
Step 1: Small egg head
Near the top left, draw a small egg head, a little wider than it is tall.
Tip Keep it small. Leave lots of room below for a long neck.
Step 2: Dark wedge bill
From the head's front, draw a short wedge bill. Add a mouth line, and a small triangle patch behind it.
Step 3: One friendly eye
Behind the patch, high on the head, draw a round eye with a big black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Long S neck
Start under the head. Draw 2 thin lines down in a gentle S, and stop halfway down the page.
Tip The long curvy neck is what makes it a swan and not a duck.
Step 5: Chest and back
From the front neck line, draw a round chest down, stopping low. From the other, draw a long back.
Tip The water goes where the chest stops.
Step 6: Fluffy tail
From the back's end, draw a small upturned tail tip. Curve round and down, stopping level with the chest.
Step 7: Little wing
On the body, draw a small wing: round at the front, smooth on top, 3 soft bumps along the bottom.
Step 8: Wavy water
From the left edge, draw a wavy line across under the baby swan to the right edge. Add 2 ripples.
Step 9: Soft grey fluff
Colour the wing light stone grey. Colour the head, neck and body soft grey around it. Leave the eye white.
Step 10: Blue water, dark bill
Colour the water blue under the wavy line, all the way across. Colour the bill and its patch dark grey.
